Dental health care whilst having Braces
Although braces helps us in keeping teeth aligned it makes it a bit difficult to take proper care of your Oral hygiene. Taking proper care of your oral health while having Braces is paramount as ensuring proper care will make you one step closer to having a perfect smile.
So what can you be doing to make sure you’re keeping your oral health in check while you’re wearing braces?
1. Follow Strict routine for Brushing and Floss.
The above two are important for everyone.
But if you are having Braces it becomes even crucial for you too follow these strictly as having braces increases the likelihood of food particles being stuck in your teeth.
Use a soft bristled toothbrush and brush twice a day. Make sure you brush in a zig-zag pattern as this is more effective for brushing out the food particles from all corners.
Similarly buy a threader from your nearest drug store and use it to floss daily.
2. Try adapting to Water Floss instead of using a string.

For people with braces a water floss is more convenient, unlike traditional string floss which might create additional problems for people with braces as flossing can be awkward, messy, and hard to do right. If you are looking for an effective alternative to string floss, you can choose a water flosser instead.
3. Visit your Dentist regularly or as advised.
Whether you like it or not, you have to regularly visit the dentist as advised by him/her.
The braces need to be adjusted after some time and it is therefore better to listen to your dentist in this regard.
4. Being Mindful helps
Some people unknowingly damage their Braces due to some unconscious habits like Finger nail biting and sticking objects like Pen,Pencil in their mouth. Remember It’s better to avoid these habits than to have to wear braces for a longer time.
5. Check wire ends.
Although Dentists often make sure to fit the braces in a way that they don’t poke into areas having soft tissue like the tongue or the cheeks it is better if you also check it too.
Use your finger to see whether braces are running into some soft tissue and making you uncomfortable.
